The Noyyal river farmers were seemingly engaged in agricultural activities and contribute little to agricultural production. It was understood that the farmers were affected by yielding less of few crops, reduction of amount by doing agricultural activities. The season of cultivation had a drastic change. An Average of 65 percent of the farmers were to cultivate the land of 3 seasons per year before the pollution impact. At present it was reduced to only 0 percent and most of the farmers have been cultivating the land for only one season.
As the effluent water irrigation is a persistent problem, 29 percent of the farmers sold portion of their land and most of the farmers in Tiruppur area were ready to sell, as the agricultural land in those places are required for industrial establishments.
Out of the total production, the farmers retain major portion of their produce for their own consumption and fodder for livestock. In many cases, the small and marginal farmers were forced to buy the seeds with high cost for the survival of live stocks
